Filing an EEO? You Have Options

“Hey, your pictures look smokin’ hot on Facebook!” If that comes from your brother it’s weird enough. You don’t want to hear that coming from your manager. EEO laws are nothing to be taken lightly, and for good reason. Inappropriate language or contact should be reported immediately to the appropriate people. But who are these people?

Well, you actually have two routes. One is through the standard agency EEO process. But did you know you can contact your steward about this? Federal law allows the NTEU to investigate allegations of EEO violations. It’s your choice. Some employees are more than comfortable having agency personnel investigate their EEO claims. There are others however who, for various reasons, would rather have their union representatives look into this matter. The same laws apply, and violations should be brought to light right away.
